There's something to be said for the eloquence of this statement, the storytelling it encompasses and the emotions it evokes. We've all been there. Some of us are there now - searching for the place that feels more like play than work, the place you're excited to get to and a little bummed to leave at the end of a day. The place that realizes the notion "if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life."
As a member of the Village Marketing Team, I'd love to take credit for either of these intelligent, well-articulated, and immensely wise excerpts. But, also as a member of the Village Marketing Team, I know how important it is to give credit where credit is due - in this case to Steve Jobs and Confucius, respectively. Both worked hard, but knew they were doing something for a bigger purpose.
This is why it's so natural to cite them when talking about The Village. This is a place that encourages a "roll your sleeves up and blaze a trail" mentality, a place that sees and values hard work - celebrating those who are willing to show up and give 110%. It's a place that overflows with innovation and creativity. And while some of those things could seem intimidating, the best part of this place - is that you never go at anything alone.
The people around you aren't your colleagues. They're not your team. Whether you like it or not, they turn into your friends, and as a larger whole become an extension of your family. Like families, we're not always perfect. But, as always, highs are higher and challenges quickly subdued when you come across someone armed with a witty joke in the hallway or catch a "hey kiddo" from one of our fearless leaders - leaving you reinvigorated and reminded that this is more than a job, if you choose to embrace that.
You spend a lot of time at work. It would behoove you to search for a place where the best part of what you do (besides doing great work) is the people you get to do it with. And the impact you make at the end of the day. The Village checks and bolds a lot of these boxes.
